Meet with your elected officials just up the Hill to try out your newfound expertise, and escort them back to the Reception. (You may need to make an appointment prior to the day of the workshop.)

Explanation and discussion of major goals of the Alliance:
Our Public Policy Committee Co-Chairs Ignacio Pessoa, city attorney for Alexandria, and Fiona Tower, attorney with the Richmond law firm of Kutak Rock LLP Attorneys, will, with some outside speakers, address these goals. How to lobby effectively with your legislator will be discussed again this year. Emergency issues that may emerge during the session will also be covered.
Speakers are: Lisa Guthrie Executive Director of the League of Conservation Voters, Kathy Kolber, our consultant for the event, Alexander Macaulay, Scenic Virginia and Piedmont Environmental Council lobbyist, andif his legislative schedule permitsDelegate Albert Pollard.
3:00 5:00 Meetings will be scheduled with representatives of the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Historic Resources, the offices of the Governor, and the Lieutenant Governor. Their view of the state of preservation in this session will be sought. Other meetings are being scheduled with legislative leaders.
4:00 5:00 Meetings with individual legislators bringing them and their staffs to the
5:00 7:00 Legislative Reception. We are scheduled to meet at The Womans Club, 211 East Franklin Street in Richmond at 5:00 PM for a reception honoring legislators and their staffs. From 4:30 7:00 a shuttle will run continuously between the front of Old City Hall (1000 East Broad Street) and the Womans Club. Parking: Park in the parking garage at Grace & Third Streets (enter from Grace St., travelling west), and exit the garage on foot onto Franklin Street.
6:00 Recipients of the 2003 Preservation Awards presented by the Honorable Tim Kaine, Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. Exhibits of winning projects will be displayed
